During prenatal appointments, your OB or midwife likely asks you if you have any questions. Even if you do, chances are you don’t ask them every question running through your head- these appointments are only so long, after all. Pregnancy causes huge hormonal changes in the body, and let's not forget about being physically exhausted. I get it feeling overwhelmed and having to think about what should you even ask, or what to ask get so out of whack that you turn to the internet but going down an internet rabbit hole doesn’t always help. That’s not to even mention while circling in the back of your mind the hundred million "what if" questions about the birth itself. Nervousness loves to rob you and make you not ask so you draw back this is what we aim to change every question (maybe not all hundred million) but the one's close to your heart should be and will be addressed with a doula by your side.
Pregnancy and birth precipitate some of the biggest changes you will ever go through, so it makes sense to have questions, and even be a bit anxious.
It' important for a doula to be that trusted source who can help you find answers or talk you through the possibilities. A guide or mentor in the form of a birth doula can make what seems impossible possible and surely above all this manageable.
If you’re asking yourself…
….or any similar questions, you’re not alone.
In fact, I speak on behalf of the mother's and who has experienced pregnancy and I am almost certain they have questioned themselves about these things, even if it’s not their first child. This is why doulas exist!
